Megally Rizzo and Friends met in Colombia as children and are related by marriage. Music is very much a part of the experience in Colombian life where, at every get-together, there is singing and dancing. This trio formed many years ago at such a gathering, and the music they perform is the type that is sung at these events -- traditional and popular ballads of Latin America, Mexico, and Colombia. Megally Rima and Liliana Perez are the group’s singers. Washington Ampudia is the guitarist.
Keith
Oxman, a Denver, Colorado native, has gigged steadily as a leader
and as a sideman for almost 25 years -- including a stint on the road with
the Buddy Rich Big Band. He has also appeared with artists such as Sonny
Stitt, Art Blakey, Jack Mc Duff, Tom Harrell, Jon Hendricks and Mel Tormé.
His sound and style are original, and his abilities as a writer make him
a force to be reckoned with. And while his original compositions have the
qualities to make them standards for tomorrow's musicians, his arrangements
breathe life into little heard standards. An excellent improviser, with
a fine sound, agile technique and sure harmonic sense, Keith Oxman can
swing like crazy.
The Intermezzo
Chamber Players is an alliance of talented
composers/teachers/performers. Comprised mainly of faculty from Denver's
Intermezzo Chamber Music Sessions music camp, guest colleagues from all over
the country and abroad are often invited to join in. Accomplished artists
all, these musicians have performed around the world to
considerable
acclaim. Among the artists performing this evening: pianist, theorist, Dalcroze
instructor Jeremy Dittus.
Jeremy Dittus has performed throughout the United States and Italy. Solo concerti performances include the Shaker Heights Symphony Orchestra and the Mozart Sinfonietta of Cleveland. Holding a doctorate of musical arts in piano performance, Dr. Dittus currently instructs undergraduate solfège courses at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In his solo performance this evening, Jeremy will play a selection of Debussy Preludes.
