A cellist, guitarist, teacher, and award winning composer, Stephen Katz premiered his cello compositions at Carnegie Recital Hall and performs frequently with the Paul Winter Consort. He is a pioneer in the art of counterpoint strumming techniques for the cello and has developed a repertoire of compositions that incorporate melody and accompaniment into highly rhythmic, uniquely idiomatic cello solos. If you’ve never heard Stephen’s music, then you are in for an amazing treat. Far beyond what you might think of as cello music, it breaches the ethereal and moves into deep mystical experience.

Baritone David Farwig has performed as a soloist and chorister for professional companies throughout the United States, include the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, one of the premier military choral ensembles. Tonight, along with the Intermezzo Chamber Players, David will perform a composition by CSO violinist and composer David Waldman. Waldman's works have been premiered by the Colorado Symphony, Up Close and Musical, the Colorado Chamber Players, and the International Horn Conference. David and the Players will also perform Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach for baritone and string quartet, Op.3.

Boulder, Colorado-based Sherefe — named after the Turkish drinking toast, “to your honor” — is a group of American musicians who perform traditional music from the Balkans and the Middle East in native languages and on authentic instruments. With a specialization tonight in Greek and Turkish music, this evening’s concert is sure to please.
