Described by Intermountain Acoustic Musician as “One of the most delightful performers around,” Carla Sciaky is a multi-instrumentalist-folksinger-songwriter who delights audiences and critics alike. She has won awards and recognition in such arenas as the Kerrville New Song Competition; the Louisville, Kentucky, songwriting competition; the Colorado Arts and Humanities Fellowship for Composition; and the Billboard Songwriting Competition. Judd Grossman of the Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange writes, “Amidst the cacophony of singer-songwriters vying for our ears, Carla Sciaky's music stands out.” We agree.
The
Intermezzo Chamber Players is an alliance of talented composers,
teachers, and performers. Comprised mainly of faculty from Denver’s
Intermezzo Chamber Music Sessions music camp. Accomplished artists all, these
musicians have performed around the world to considerable acclaim. In tonight’s
show, they perform Beethoven.
Keith
Oxman, a Denver, Colorado native, has gigged steadily as a leader and as
a sideman for more than 25 years — including a stint on the road with the Buddy
Rich Big Band. He has also appeared with artists such as Sonny Stitt, Art Blakey,
Jack Mc Duff, Tom Harrell, Jon Hendricks and Mel Tormé. His sound and
style are original, and his abilities as a writer make him a force to be reckoned
with. And while his original compositions have the qualities to make them standards
for tomorrow's musicians, his arrangements breathe life into little heard standards.
An excellent improviser, with a fine sound, agile technique and sure harmonic
sense, Keith Oxman can swing like crazy.
