Jay Reusch was one of nine musical siblings (all the rest, older sisters), but he did not become active musically until college. “I played and sang with other folks in very informal ways during college and medical school,” Jay explains. He taught himself to play the guitar and started singing in a choir while in school. Then, after moving to Denver in 1986, he met Dan Bessesen. The two have been playing together ever since. Jay and Dan's band, Dogs in the Yard has motivated Jay to write songs. “It’s great to have original material to work on and share with others. I give a ton of credit to Dan and my other band mates for helping to make the songs what they have become. I am excited to have the chance to play these songs ‘stripped down’ and to re-think their presentation.”
The Intermezzo Chamber Players is an alliance of talented composers/teachers/performers. Comprised mainly of faculty from Denver’s Intermezzo Chamber Music Sessions music camp, guest colleagues from all over the country and abroad are often invited to join in. Accomplished artists all, these musicians have performed around the world to considerable acclaim. Tonight, they will be joined by special guest Djamel Mami, performing “Come Down Heavy!” by Evan Chambers, for sax, piano and violin. A piece by Liduino Pitombeira is also on the program.
